Eangee's giant Fortune floor lamp with real fossilized cocoa leaf lampshade finished in a variety of colors is a true show piece and conversation starter that perfectly accents any home or office decor. This uniquely styled fair trade and sustainable product is made in the Philippines. Artisans start with a wrought iron frame that is powder coated to insure a durable long-lasting color and finish. They then create a work of art from the shade with fossilized, sustainably harvested leaves. Organic dyes are applied to uniquely and naturally stain the leaf. The resulting effect is a lamp with different hues and shades, sometimes within the same leaf. Artisans adhere the stained leaves to a heat resistant backing and use a strong sealant to ensure the beauty, stability and integrity of the shade. The Fortune Lamp name derives from its long sturdy bamboo legs; in many Asian cultures bamboo is a sign of good luck. My wife bought us this lamp to finally replace the hideous dorm-room classic standing halogen lamp that I had bought at Staples back in my bachelor days. That lamp was perfectly functional, and definitely provided a good deal of light, but we're grown-ups now, and it was time to let it go. This lamp is beautifully made, and looks great in our living room. We both tend to be fairly conservative in terms of our taste in decor, and we were worried that our room might look like some tie-dyed psychedelic wonderland once the lamp was turned on, but our fears turned out to be completely baseless. We put three CFL bulbs in it (being the yuppie, tree-hugging hippies that we are) and the lamp produces a soft, warm, pleasing light, and it looks gorgeous as a piece of furniture, even when it's turned off.

One thing to be aware of, is that this lamp doesn't provide a whole lot of illumination, so if your goal is to flood a room with brilliant light, this isn't the lamp for you.
