I didn't want to jump on the Surefire bandwagon, especially after I've read several reviews about their customer service regarding issues with their products. I wasn't sure what to get however, until I stumbled on Elzetta. I was looking for a nice mount for the AR when I found their ZHF-1500 mount for A2 front sights (highly recommended!) That led me to their ZFL-M60 line of weapon lights (see pic I attached).

They offer a couple different body styles (2 or 3 cell) and different bezels. I originally wanted a Crenellated bezel, but decided to go with a lower profile in case I wanted to easily add a light filter cap later. They also come with or without tape switches, and I chose the tape switch model.

The upside is they are super bright (235 lumens I believe) and will run for 1.5 hours continuous at that level. I thought after that however it must die out, but Elzetta states it will simply run at a lower lumen output for several more hours before dying. This flashlight is very solid, a bit heavy but I think it's because of how sturdy they are. Elzetta demonstrates the toughness by hammering nails into wood with the body of the light, and then turning them on.

The tailswitch pressure pad works perfectly, I have mine taped to the top of my Magpul handguard. The light is supposed to work even if this cable gets severed or torn out. You can also turn the tailcap to keep the light constant on if you wish.

The downside is the 1.5hr run time, but at 235 lumens from two batteries you can see why. There are other tailcaps available with features such as strobe, but this is not available with the tailcap so I wish they could incorporate that feature into this model somehow.

Anyway, all in all an excellent light, and all made in the USA. The mount cost me less than $30 and the light was $190, I believe it retails for $204 on Elzetta's website. I did contact their customer service already to ask about a thumbscrew for the flashlight mount, and they replied promptly and have been excellent to deal with.

I highly recommend checking out Elzetta, I think I'll be getting another flashlight and mount for my shotgun from them soon. I'm sure I've offended some of the Surefire fanboys, but what works, works...and this weapon light works!
