Carusoe 1.6 GPF Elongated 2 Piece Toilet Finish: Cotton Review

First let me start off with some disclaimers.

I am a long time fan of both Kohler and Toto toilets. I loved the standard kohler wellworth elongated toilets and more recently, the toto toilets. However, I had noticed that the quality of the kohler toilets in recent years had come down. (Just scan the bowls in the home depot and feel the finish. Not as smooth and noticeable blemishes). So when we built our newest home, with 5 bathrooms, we put in 4 Toto toilets and 1 designer Kohler toilet in the powder room. I like them all, but the Toto flush is impeccable. Also in the past, Toto toilets were hard to find and more expensive, not so anymore.

We recently moved to an older home, with some really old toilets. Flushing two or three times sometimes still didn't cut it. So this was the first replacement toilet. Once again, I looked at both Kohler and Toto. I went to the home depot and was not pleased with the Kohler finishes there. Since I was ordering from Amazon, I did not want to worry about sending back such a large package, so I decided on Toto. I was also worried about installation, in case it was some screwy procedure, but after all the research, it appeared pretty straightforward.

The price on Amazon was just right. For less than the price of a Kohler wellworth kit, I got a quiet toilet, an insulated bowl (a little extra quiet) and very easy installation. Took me about 1 hour to replace the toilet, though most of the time was prepping the floor so I could place the old toilet and capture any leftover water in the bowl, without getting messy. Toilet came complete ready to install, 1 tank, one bowl, white bolt covers, and bolts to connect them. I did have to buy the wax seal separately ($5)from Amazon as well. This Toilet does not require the TOTO adapter plate, so its a simple swap out. The recommended TOTO toilet seat ($40) is high quality plastic, but everything seems to cling to it, so check to make sure you're OK with that. But its a soft-close seat, and looks great. Bemis makes some elongated wooden seats, if that bothers you.
