The rugged Spectra Precision� Laser HD100 Handheld Distance Meter is designed to give specialty contractors a high-accuracy, one-person distance measuring and estimating tool to measure remote and difficult-to-reach places. Accurate to � 1/16 in at 330 ft (� 1.5 mm at 100 m), the lightweight, portable HD100 is more accurate than conventional tapes to help contractors avoid costly mistakes and reduce expensive rework. A visible laser dot lets you safely measure hard-to-reach places or hazardous situations, such as large heights, factory interiors or over water, remotely or from a distance. This capability increases safety and efficiency, as well as provides high accuracy and quick payback.

This is a great measuring instrument that does the difficult with ease. As a GC I frequently need to know dimensions while in site meetings and in planning sessions with my Subcontractors. The old scenario is someone would ask for a distance measurement and out would come the 30' FatMax. You fully extend the tape and measure 30', then you drag the dumb end of the tape to where the smart end was, have another person hold it there trying to get an exact position from which to take the final measurement. Aha, it's 44' - 6 7/16" (plus or minus). New scenario: put the butt of the HD100 against the first wall, push a button to take a reading getting 44' 6 7/16", and continue the almost uninterrupted conversation with an exact measurement. Once you have used the a laser measurement device, owning one of your own is a no brainer. Once you have owned any Spectra instrument (I have an HV 401 laser), buying the HD 100 instead of someone else's laser measurement device is also a no brainer. This is a great toy disguised as an indispensable tool. What a concept :-)
